An Australian man who allegedly tried to evade his Oz drug charges in Bali has faced court under accusation of assuming the identities of two different men with forged and stolen travel documents.
Shaun Edward Davidson appeared in Denpasar District court on Monday.
The 30-year-old was arrested over two months ago by immigration officials.
Prosecutor Ika Lusiana says Davidson admitted during questioning that the passport he was found using was not his and he had paid a local forger Rp 1.5 million to make a fake visa, according to a News Corp Australia report.
The Australian could get up to seven years if found guilty of using a fake or forged visa and using someone else’s immigration documents.
Davidson allegedly came to Indonesia on January 28 last year—which probably was not a coincidence that that was the day he was supposed to appear at the Perth Magistrates Court to face drug charges including possessing a prohibited drug with the intention to sell or supply.
His case is due to pick back up in Denpasar in July. Meanwhile, Davidson is staying at the “Hotel K” (Kerobokan Prison).
