Due to what was reported to be a mental breakdown over child sexual abuse allegations, a man in Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara reportedly cut off his own penis during a suicide attempt, police say.
YDB, 32, was rushed to the hospital last Saturday after YDB’s neighbor found him drenched in his own blood in his bathroom at approximately 1pm. The unnamed neighbor was chatting with YDB earlier that day when the latter suddenly excused himself to take a shower.
“The witness found [YDB] with blood coming out from his genital area,” said Bola Police Chief Muhammad Dong Said.
Muhammad revealed that YDB was previously accused of child molestation. After the victim’s family filed a police report against him, the authorities were scheduled to pick up YDB at his residence today.
“A few days earlier he was reported to the Sikka Police over child sexual abuse allegations, so [the case] is being processed,” Muhammad added.
Reports say that YDB had severed his own penis using a sickle, and that the reproductive organ was found in a mason jar in the bathroom. It was unclear whether YDB’s family saved the dismembered penis or if he stored it himself, though police suspect the latter to be true.
