All set for takeoff: Jetstar to launch Townsville-Bali route

The inaugural flight for budget carrier Jetstar from Townsville to Bali is set for takeoff tonight.

The service’s first flight, JQ102 is slated for departure at 10:25 pm local time on Wednesday and should touch down in Bali at 1:30 am on Thursday, according to Australian Aviation. The return flight JQ101 will depart from Bali on Thursday at 2:30 am and land in Townsville at 9:15 am.

This direct flight will apparently save people in North Queensland the hassle of having to connect in Brisbane or Sydney.

“We know Bali is one of the most popular holiday spots in Asia and we’re delighted to bring a direct low fares link to the people of Townsville,” Jetstar Australia and New Zealand chief executive David Hall said on Wednesday, as quoted by Australian Aviation.

“As the largest city in North Queensland with a population close to 200,000, we’re confident Townsville will continue to support our Bali services and ensure they’re sustainable year-round.”
