AirAsia Indonesia President Director Sunu Widyatmoko was probably jumping for joy when he announced that the final test results of an AirAsia pilot in question came back negative for drugs. As if the airline could handle any more negative press or controversy since December’s crash of QZ8510.
The pilot had been suspected of using drugs when his urine was randomly tested at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, reports said on January 1.
Widyatmoko made the announcement today from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in East Jakarta. According to Widyatmoko, after a qualitative urine examination, blood tests, and hair examination, the pilot with initials FI was cleared, reports Kompas.
Reports earlier this month speculated that the pilot’s tests showed a false positive for drugs because of his morphine treatment for typhus at the end of December.
