AirAsia Indonesia passengers experience lengthy delays

A flight from Bali to Jogja was epically delayed on Monday and it appears AirAsia flights in other cities have also been messed up.

Flying in Indonesia, travelers often come to expect slight delays but AirAsia flight XT 8440 was reportedly over five hours late, departing from Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport.

The flight was apparently supposed to take off at 7:20 am, but still hadn’t departed by noon. “Operational delay” was written as the flight status, according to Tribun Bali

AirAsia Indonesia provided snacks and lunch boxes for compensation for the delay, but Ministry of Transportation rules require flights delayed more than four hours to compensate passengers Rp 300k, according to Tribun Bali.

It’s not yet clear if XT 8440 passengers are being compensated for their long wait at Ngruah Rai today.

Meanwhile, a visit to AirAsia Indonesia’s Twitter page shows that tons of frustrated travelers, not just in Bali, have been asking the airline what’s going on.

One such passenger tweeted that the pilot said the airline’s computer server is down.
