Soon, there will be no more cheap direct AirAsia flights from Bali to Kota Kinabalu. So for all of those who want to get in one last cheap visa run to KK, you better plan it stat.
AirAsia Indonesia has announced that it will end its thrice weekly service from Bali’s Ngurah Rai to the Malaysian Borneo city, effective June 23, 2016.
Apparently it’s just getting too expensive for the airline to fly there.
“The operational costs have also increased quite substantially for AirAsia’s operations at Terminal 1 Kota Kinabalu International Airport,” AirAsia Berhad Chief Executive Officer, Aireen Omar said in a statement last Wednesday.
For customers who already bought Bali-Kota Kinabalu tickets for after June 23, Omar said the airline will either allow them to reschedule with the latest flight on June 21, 2016, they could be credited for the tickets, or could receive a full refund.
