91 people killed in Tabanan accidents in 2014

The death toll of people killed in traffic accidents in Tabanan, Bali went up in 2014 from the previous year.

While 91 people tragically died as a result of motor accidents in Tabanan in 2014, the number was 78 in 2013, reports Tribun Bali

But on the flip side, the actual number of reported Tabanan traffic accidents did decrease from 2013 by 29.23 percent, with 167 cases this year and a staggering 236 cases in 2013.

Tabanan Police I Wayan Sudita told Tribun Bali that most of these accidents are due to negligence and violations of road users, as well as the condition of the vehicles themselves. Sudita hopes that in 2015 the number of traffic accidents will stay down, and most importantly that fatalities will decline.

One particularly dangerous road connecting Tabanan and Gilimanuk is nicknamed the “skull” road because it is infamous for causing accidents. Sudita says opening a three land road shortcut in the “skull” should help with keeping accidents there down.
