90 get food poisoning from nasi bungkus during Ogoh-ogoh in Tabanan, Bali

Bali belly gets the best of us, but when 90 people are seeking medical attention for sakit perut, then you known you’ve got a problem on your hands.

Reports have confirmed that 90 people in Tabanan sought medical attention for food poisoning last week during Ogoh-ogoh in Tiubu Village, Tabanan, Bali last Friday before Nyepi. In such a small village, authorities had more than inkling that it was not a coincidence so many people fell ill and the 90 people got sick from the same thing.

Tests identifying the bacteria culprit have confirmed that the mass food poisoning came from rice packets that were distributed in the community, according to Tribun Bali.

The contents of the nasi bungkus along with rice had noodles, tempe, chicken, and eggs, said Tabanan’s chief medical officer, Nyoman Suratmika, as quoted by Tribun.
