7th suspect finally arrested in Robert Ellis murder

Police have finally secured another suspect in Australian businessman Robert Ellis’ grisly murder.

They have reportedly been hunting him for months since the October 2014 murder and their long drawn-out chase culminated in the arrest of 34-year-old Adolf Maolo Rangga Saturday night in Sumba, an island east of Bali, reports the Guardian

Rangga was reportedly at home on Saturday when police surrounded his house. He unsuccessfully tried to escape through the kitchen. Now in police custody, Rangga will be transferred to Bali, according to the Guardian.

Ellis’ body was memorably found in a rice field ditch last October, wrapped in plastic, with the throat slashed.

His wife, Julaikah Noor Aini aka Noor Ellis is alleged to have ordered a hit on her husband of more than 20 years. She along, with five others have been dealt charges carrying the death penalty. The other five are the two maids who allegedly abetted the crime, the boyfriend of one of the maid’s who Noor Ellis had hired to do the killing, and two other men who participated, one of whom is accused of slashing Ellis’ throat.

Noor Ellis will likely face trial next month.
