Ngurah Rai Airport has seen way too much action in the past week.
Last week, the big story was the cluster f*ck of how a Gold Coast-bound flight was diverted twice to Bali after two separate medical emergencies, leaving passengers stranded for nearly 40 hours.
Now to top that off, seven Surabaya-bound flights were diverted to Bali over the weekend when Surabaya’s Juanda Airport was temporarily closed. Because a Lion Air plane skidded off the runway. Fun.
The airport was closed for almost two hours on Saturday when the Lion Air flight overran the landing strip at 11:08 am local time, according to Legal and Communication Officer of state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura in Juanda Surabaya Airport, Liza Anindya.
“All passengers are safe. They all have been evacuated from the plane,” he said, as quoted by Antara.
Glad none of the 215 passengers were injured during this mess!
