7 Bangladeshis taken into custody by Bali Immigration

Bali Immigration has secured seven Bangladeshi nationals in a case that is allegedly related to “human smuggling”.

Head of Ngurah Rai Immigration Class I, Ari Budijanto told media that Immigration suspects that they were only transiting in Bali and were bound for Australia. They had arrived in Bali on Oct. 29, traveling on a Malindo flight from KL.

One of the Bangladeshis was believed to be the agent, while the remaining six were allegedly “victims,” Budijanto said.

When asked whether the group was asylum seekers, Budjianto said that has not been sorted out yet.

“We are still working on that. Obviously it’s still under investigation,” Tribun Bali quoted Budijanto as saying on Tuesday.
