6,000 tons of rice arrives in Bali, should be enough

Bali should be okay on rice supply for the coming months after 6,000 tons of beras arrived at the Port of Benoa.

The new arrival puts Bali’s rice supply at 19,000 tons, regional head of the state Logistics Agency (Bulog) in Bali, Mansur Siri, told Okezone.

According to Siri, this stockpile of rice should last the needs of the island for about 10 months. Because on an island where the mainstay is NASI campur, a rice shortage would just be apocalyptic. 

Bulog Bali data shows the average consumption of rice in Bali is about 2,200 to 2,600 tons per month. 

A portion of the island’s rice supply is also allocated for family welfare distribution, Siri added. 

Rice distribution is additionally being accelerated at the amount to avoid price hikes head of the Balinese holidays of Galungan and Kuningan this February.
