4.2-magnitude earthquake rattles southern Bali, felt in Lombok

On top of the floods that inundated some parts of Bali over the weekend, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Bali’s southern coast today, which was reportedly felt in the neighboring islands of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake struck at 1:27pm 65 kilometers southeast of South Kuta.

The quake’s epicenter was recorded at a depth of 50 kilometers in the ocean. The Denpasar chapter of BMKG chief Cahyo Nugroho said there is no potential for a tsunami and so far there are no aftershocks reported.

There are no reports of casualties or major damages as of this article’s publication. It has been reported that residents of West Lombok, NTB, felt the rattle.
