Denpasar Police made a striking amount of drug arrests in July 2016.
Police reportedly arrested 34 drug suspects for meth and ecstasy cases.
“There are 31 cases, while there’s 66.22 grams of meth as evidence and 43 ecstasy pills valued at Rp 138 million,” Denpasar Narcotics Police Chief Gede Ganefo told Tribun Bali on Wednesday.
However, the amount of drug arrests this July are pretty much in line with cases over the past two years, according to information compiled by Tribun Bali. In July 2014, Denpasar Police had 24 cases, while in July 2015, they had 31.
July and August tend to be ‘hot’ months for drugs, based on the data.
Police said in July 2016, drug cases outnumbered other types of crimes reported such as motorbike theft and theft with violence, so they will be putting their best foot forward to tackle drugs cases, which are “damaging” to the country’s reputation.
