30 teenagers caught in Bali motorbike street race raid

In more attempts to control teenage rowdiness and naughty behavior, police conducted a raid on participants and spectators of a trek-trekan liar aka street motorbike race, which took place at the four lane intersection near Purnama Beach, busting 30 teenagers and confiscating 29 motorbikes in the process, Tribun Bali reports.

Nearby residents say that the intersection is a trek-trekan liar hotspot. When police received reports just after midnight on Tuesday regarding the occurrence of a trek-trekan liar, they immediately rushed to the scene. Most of the crowd managed to escape, but the few that got caught were taken to the police station, where they got handed the ultimate embarrassing treatment – having their activities reported to their parents. Apparently not all of the parents were cross though, some were silent, and some were apparently cheekily smiling (perhaps some trek-trekan liar veterans…?).

Police also asked the caught teenagers to give a written statement that they will not get involved in such activities again. Out of the 29 caught, none admitted to actually taking part in the race itself, saying that they were just spectators.

Looks like these boys got lucky with the law this time – we’ll be watching with interest to see how many of them end up getting caught in future trek-trekan liar raids.
