A group of three people was arrested on Thursday in the North Kuta area for stealing money and laptops from an Australian.
Gusti Ayu Miranti was arrested for the theft, followed by her alleged accomplices, Gede Dana Putra, 27, and I Komang Putra Sanjaya, 27, reports Tribun Bali.
Evidence found on the suspects was reportedly enough for an arrest: three laptops and Rp 200,000 (which could have been way worse, unless they had been able to spend more of the cash before police arrested them).
The victim of the theft was identified in Tribun’s report as Mark Michael Staudacher, an Australian who lives on Jl. Umalas I.
North Kuta police chief Ronny R Eppang told Tribun that the incident occurred around 2 am in the morning on Thursday. At the time, Staudacher had been sleeping, but then one of his neighbors woke him up around 8:30 am to tell him he had seen a stranger go into the Australian’s house. Um, creepy. What a helpful neighbor though.
“But when he was woken up, the victim went back to sleep. After waking up the morning he checked his stuff, it was gone,” Eppang tad Tribun.
