2014 numbers are here: Bali’s economy shows growth, but poverty rate also up

Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika gave some numbers on Thursday about the shape of the island’s economy in 2014.

From the evaluation shared, growth of Bali’s economy was up 6.7 percent in 2014, reports Tribun Bali

But while the economy was busy growing, apparently the poverty rate was too. The number reportedly went from 4.4 percent to 4.7 percent in 2014.

Another figure highlighted was that Bali’s inflation rate in 2014 reached 8.4 percent, while the national one was 8.36 percent.

In Bali alone, Singaraja is said to be experiencing the highest inflation rate, with pressure coming from food pricing.

Accordingly, Pastika urged his colleagues to try and tackle the island’s inflation issues.
