Two people were reportedly hospitalized following a bloody incident which occurred in the early hours of Sunday at a café in Sanur, a case of which has so far been confirmed by local authorities.

According to reports, the incident occurred at around 12:30am on Sunday, when a customer at the café got into an argument with a waitress. The customer, identified as GM, started creating a scene and began to chase the waitress around with a knife in his hand. It is suspected that GM was drunk, and was offended during the course of his conversation with the waitress.

The waitress then sought help from another café staff, identified as PP, but GM then stabbed him on his stomach. The café owner, identified as IA, was soon alerted to the incident, and he struck GM in the head with a sickle.

Both PP and GM were then taken to the local hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, IA reportedly appeared at the South Denpasar sub precinct to provide a statement soon after the incident.

“Yes, there was an assault. We will release the case [to the public] soon,” Hadi Mastika, an officer with the South Denpasar sub precinct, confirmed.
