Two men have been detained in connection with the stabbing of a police officer in Legian over the weekend, the authorities confirmed yesterday.
As previously reported, JS, 37, was stabbed in front of a nightclub in Kuta in the early hours of Jan. 9 after defending his female friend from an alleged harasser.
Bali Police spokesman Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto said that two men were arrested on Tuesday for alleged involvement in the stabbing while three others remained at large.
CCTV footage, Stefanus added, confirmed that five people were ganging up on JS. They were seen using shattered glass bottles to attack him at around 3:30am on Legian street.
“The weapon was used to inflict wounds on his back. In total, [he suffered] two wounds on his head and three on his back,” he said.
JS was hospitalized and there is no recent update on his condition.
Stefanus added that one of the perpetrators was injured in the altercation and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
