2 dead, 13 injured in road accident on Sanur bypass

A crash on Jl. Bypass Ngurah Rai on Tuesday morning in front of Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel has reportedly left two dead and 13 injured.

A truck carrying 13 workers in the back hit a tree and power pole on the roadside just past midnight.

According to eyewitnesses near the crash site, the truck had been speeding and cut through a traffic light just before it crashed.

“The truck drove at a high speed. It had to run the traffic light and then it swerved to the left and hit a tree on the edge of the road,” an unidentified local resident told Tribun Bali

As a result of the crash, the two people in the front of the truck died at the scene, according to reports.

The remaining 13 victims were rushed to the Sanglah Hospital emergency room by ambulances that were called by security guards from Sanur Paradise Plaza.

Bali has a number of road accidents with all the drivers (many of them unlicensed) out there, but they are usually much smaller scale than this.
