If there’s one thing that can be learned on Indonesian social media lately, it’s that bule seem to love traveling great distances through Indonesia.
A story of a Dutch man’s 2013 trip from Bali to the Netherlands on his Honda Supra X went viral last week, while a man walking through Bali from the United Kingdom to Australia was also a big hit with Indonesian netizens. This week the big news about a pair of Belgian doctors cycling from Bali to Brussels.
But before they make their great return back home, Belgian brothers Victor and Samuel Tihon will be doing plenty of touring Indonesia on their bikes.
So far, in just three weeks, they’ve made their way to Java via crossing at East Java’s Banyuwangi, then over to Bondowoso, then to Borobudur, and now Kebumen via Puworejo, Central Java. And before they went over to Java, they even got in a quick side-trip to Lombok, according to krjogja.com.
The brothers say they are digging Indonesia so far.
“We’ve met a lot of people, in Indonesia everyone is so friendly and we’ve enjoyed it,” KRJogja quoted Samuel as saying.
In addition to seeing the country and learning about Indonesian culture, the trip is related to their roles as doctors in Belgium, says Victor.
“We want to find out about health problems in many countries, especially developing countries. The results will be reference for us in the line of duty in our country,” Victor was quoted as saying.
