A clip of two locals dragging a dead dog with their motorbike went viral after being shared on Instagram earlier this week.
In the video, the two men, identified as INN and his father IWD, are seen dragging the dead dog that was tied with a rope to their motorbike on the Ngurah Rai Bypass Road on Jan. 1.
After the clip went viral and attracted public outrage, the Bali Police deployed its cyber unit to track down the perpetrators.
Bali Police Special Crimes Unit Chief Nanang Pri Hasmoko said that they have questioned INN and IWD. The father and son pair said they were remorseful over the incident.
“They both apologized,” Nanang said.
Nanang explained that the dog was found dead at a trash site near the perpetrators’ house at around 3pm on Jan.1. It’s believed that the dog had been dead for two days when INN and IWD found it surrounded by flies.
The pair told the police that they did not dare to touch the dead dog and decided to drag the carcass so they could dispose of it in a river.
Neither INN nor IWD were criminally charged.
