It’s that time of year again, when the Bali Immigration Office releases its annual list of naughty foreigners who were kicked out of the island (or the country altogether) over various run-ins with the law.

The Bali Province Justice and Human Rights Office, which oversees immigration matters on the island, said 194 foreigners were deported in 2021 over violations committed in Bali. Among these deportations, 71 were carried out by the Ngurah Rai International Airport Immigration Office, while 68 had been in custody at the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center.

“They came from numerous countries. Because of a variety of violations and legal matters, they were kicked out of Bali and sent home to their countries,” Bali Province Justice and Human Rights Office Head Jamaruli Manihuruk said today.

Jamaruli added that of the deportees, seven were sent home for repeatedly ignoring health protocols, including two Russians who refused to mask up in public.

“These people had been reprimanded and warned, yet they still repeated their offenses. There was even one who lied to officers by pretending to wear a mask when she actually wasn’t. And then she posted about that lie online and it went viral,” Jamaruli said.

We think we know what case he was referring to.
