The Denpasar District Court today gave the maximum possible prison sentence to a 14-year-old boy for the gruesome murder of a bank teller in Denpasar, who was found stabbed to death late last month.
The convict, identified as PAHP, was found guilty of violent robbery which led to death of the victim, identified as NPW.
Under Indonesia’s criminal code (KUHP), assault that leads to death is a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison. However, the maximum sentence is reduced to half for cases where the accused are minors, as is the case with PAHP.
The boy was arrested in Buleleng regency last month, just a couple of days after the victim was found dead at her home on Dec. 28.
According to reports, NPW had suffered from dozens of stab wounds, including on her neck, chest, back, and an open wound on her right palm. Forensic doctors ruled severe blood loss as her cause of death.
