A middle-schooler died in a motorbike accident on Sunset Road in the early hours of Thursday, after he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and crashed onto the pavement.
The victim, identified as 14-year-old NBJ, had been driving without a license or vehicle registration, police said.
Ni Putu Utariani, who heads the traffic unit at the Denpasar Police, said the boy was speeding when he lost control of his motorbike. He steered the vehicle onto the left side of the road and hit the pavement hard, resulting in a heavy head injury.
“In conclusion, the victim was not careful enough while driving,” Utariani said.
“He also did not have a driver’s license nor vehicle registration.”
