American rock band Weezer is heading to an island in the sun next month headlining the Road To Now Playing Festival 2023 – a warm up event for next year’s Now Playing Festival in Bandung, West Java.
Before hitting the stage on Peninsula Island, Nusa Dua on Nov. 29, the Grammy-winning band is also set to perform in Jakarta as part of the 2022 Soundrenaline lineup on Nov. 26-27 at Allianz Eco Park, Ancol.
Road To Now Playing Festival’s project manager Jenny Steffany said that Bali is the perfect warm up for when Now Playing, touted as the biggest music festival in Bandung, returns next year.
Indonesian bands Fourtwnty, Noah, and The Adams are also set to perform at the Nov. 29 festival in Nusa Dua.
Often mentioned as one of the most influential bands since the 1990s, the last time Los Angeles-based Weezer held a concert in Indonesia was in 2013. Frontman Rivers Cuomo at the time caught media attention when he played soccer on stage in the middle of the concert, which was held in Senayan, Jakarta.
