English rock band Suede, revered as one of the first bands to start the Britpop wave of the 90s, is set to headline the 2019 Soundrenaline music festival in Bali, which will take place at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) cultural park on September 7 and 8.
The band announced their upcoming performance just last night on Twitter, highlighting that they are slated to rock the stage on the first day of the festival.

According to a report from CNN Indonesia, festival organizers might be adding other international headliners to this year’s Soundrenaline, though they have yet to announce who they might be.
“There are plans. But it’s still in the finalizing stage so we have yet to announce. We’re still approaching some [artists] … but hopefully we will be able to announce pretty soon,” said Andhika Adiputra, also known as Choky, who represents Soundrenaline organizer, Level 7.
Suede entered the music scene in the early 1990s, and was dubbed “The Best New Band in Britain” in 1992 by British music magazine Melody Maker. Many say they helped kickstart “Britpop” as a musical movement (the band, however, has reportedly distanced themselves from the term).
Suede disbanded in 2003 after their fifth studio album, A New Morning, turned out to be a commercial disappointment. The band reformed again in 2010 and has been performing at many music festivals across the world since – lead singer Brett Anderson has apparently been “leaping around stage with more vigor than a man half his age” in some of these instances (he’s 51!).
Soundrenaline usually boasts a pretty comprehensive lineup of local artists, and festival-goers get to see some of Indonesia’s most famous bands across a variety of genres performing on this annual event. Last year, American rap rock group Limp Bizkit headlined, while previous years have seen Simple Plan, Wolfmother and JET.
This year, Indonesian artists who will perform at Soundrenaline include Padi Reborn, Glenn Fredly, Tulus, Mondo Gascoro, The Upstairs and Efek Rumah Kaca.
