Short film on Bali Dogs’ plight to premiere in Sanur this weekend

A short film by Italian-Indonesian Adithio Noviello aims to rejuvenate the mutual respect between the Balinese and the island’s indigenous dog

A tall order, with Bali’s rabies problem and large stray dog population.

The film will cover the plight of the island’s dog, including the dog meat trade.

Titled “A Thousand Temples. A Thousand Dogs,” the filmmaker explains in the trailer that “Bali’s not only the island of a thousand temples. It’s also the island of a thousand dogs.”

Along with a photography exhibition and auction, the film will premiere on August 1 at 5 pm in the ballroom of the Mercure Resort Sanur.

The exhibition and auction features a black and white photography series called “Aku dan Anjing Baliku” (Me and My Bali Dog).

Tickets are available for purchase here, with general admission going for Rp 110,000 per person.

Proceeds for this event will go towards Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA) and the organization’s 24/7 free animal ambulance.
