Klungkung may be Bali’s smallest regency, but an upcoming festival is looking to really put the area on the map.
With the theme “Blue Paradise,” Nusa Penida Festival 2015 will run from October 2 to 4 on the two smaller islands east of Bali, Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan. Just browse through photos of Nusa Penida and it’ll be clear why the festival went with the theme that it did.
The festival will focus on dazzling attendees with Klungkung’s nature, adventure, and culture, according to the festival’s official site.
“The islands of Nusa Penida are unique. There are three islands there. Lembongan, Ceningan, and Nusa Penida (the biggest). There are a variety of coral reefs, as many as 296 species, and 500 specifics of fish. In fact, five fish species were newly discovered in Nusa Penida. We have mangroves, surfing, diving, snorkeling, it’s complete,” said I Nyoman Suwirta, regent of Klungkung, as quoted by Okezone.
As of Sunday, Klungkung’s regent expressed that the festival, which will host both domestic and international tourists, was up to 90 percent ready. That’s good, since it’s right around the corner!
