Following their debut in Bali last March – in what was described as a major return of music festivals in Indonesia since the pandemic – Joyland Festival has announced that it will return to the Island of Gods with French new wave group Phoenix confirmed as a headliner.

In a statement sent to Coconuts earlier today, the Jakarta-based live music and entertainment company Plainsong Live said that the second edition of Joyland Festival Bali speaks of their intention to hold music festivals and concerts beyond the capital city.

France-based Phoenix, who are among the biggest names in indie pop, synth-pop, pop rock, and new wave genres, was confirmed as the first headline act for 2023 Joyland Festival Bali – scheduled for March 17, 18, and 19.

“Phoenix is currently on tour to promote their seventh album, Alpha Zulu, released in November,” said the company.

Plainsong Live added that they will update the list of artists and performers for the festival regularly.

Last March, Joyland Festival Bali, which featured 65 performers, attracted 15,000 visitors and became the first large-scale music festival in Indonesia since the onset of the pandemic.

Tickets for next year’s festival will be available for sale on Nov. 21, starting from IDR318,000 (US$20.34). You can get yours here.
