Baywatch legend David Hasselhoff has become the face of a new luxury development in Gili Meno, a small idyllic island in Indonesia that seems to be up for the conquering to the highest bidder.

‘The Hoff” has purchased one of over 80 villas up for offer in the posh Bask development and is apparently using his celebrity status to market the remaining villas up for grabs.

Gili Meno is part of the Gilis, three small islands off the northwest coast of Lombok. The islands are famous for being car-free and for their clear pristine waters. Meno is the smallest of the three, while Gili Trawangan is known for its vibrant party scene.

Echoing the development’s ‘your slice of paradise’ slogan, Hasselhoff, 64, says he’s found paradise at Gili Meno.

“The search for freedom is one of my biggest songs in life. At Gili Meno, I knew I’d found it the moment my feet hit the sand,” he said, as quoted by Homes & Property.

“I thought, wow, I can breathe here. The water was unlike any I’ve seen — it was paradise. The waves were fantastic and there were very few people. I think there were more turtles on the island than tourists.”

The Bask development includes a range of properties from studios and lofts to three-bedroom villas, with prices starting at £172,000 (USD223,000).

The development is set to officially open up in 2019 (with a soft opening in 2018) and buying in is more of an investment than finding home, as owners and guests are entitled to use their properties just up to 30 days a year while the properties get rented out in the resort for the remainder of the year. Owners are promised annual returns of 7.5 percent, for the first two years, and from there on out, a share of the resort’s gross rental revenue.
