Lunar New Year is right around the corner, and if you’ve been scratching your head for a gift for a loved one or elderly family member that’ll stand out from the rest, we’ve got you covered, fam.

This year, Glenfiddich has released a series of limited edition Lunar New Year gift packs, and boy do they look as luxurious as they undoubtedly taste. As a brand that was first established in 1887 and produces what is currently the most awarded single malt Scotch Whisky in the world, the people behind Glenfiddich know whisky inside and out. Each of the Lunar New Year gift packs comes with a bottle of the distillery’s exquisite single malt Scotch Whisky, and each bottle has been skillfully crafted by their in-house Malt Master Brian Kinsman, who’s held the role since 2009.

And since this is in celebration of the Lunar New Year, what better way to honor the occasion than by giving the spotlight to the world’s Most Awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky? The whisky gift packs were designed by Shanghai-based illustrator Yixin Zeng, whose vibrant and intricate style of painting shines through. At the center of the illustration is the iconic Glenfiddich stag (or Fu Lu), which symbolizes wealth, prosperity, and longevity in Chinese culture. Surrounding the stag is a colorful, fantastical scene that includes faraway mountains and buildings demonstrating traditional Chinese architecture styles, all of them blending together through a number of bold textures and festive patterns.

Pointing out the amount of detail that’s gone into the illustration, Yixin Zeng explains, “My artwork takes inspiration from the vibrancy of Lunar New Year celebrations and my experience as a traveler, artist, and conceptualist. On the pack, we can see the Royal Stag sitting proudly at its heart amidst a festive wonderland with prosperous elements, such as a Chinese dragon, Chinese crane, feathers, and fish, as well as fireworks.” Zeng noted that he has also “paid tribute to Glenfiddich by incorporating playful details” for sharp-eyed consumers to discover.

The distinctions between each unique gift pack goes beyond just a difference in the included bottle of whisky. Instead, each pack is presented in one of four striking colors, with each color corresponding with that pack’s respective expression. Together, the entire line perfectly reflects their tagline “A Gift For Extraordinary Journeys.

The Glenfiddich 12 Year Old gift pack (priced at IDR1,590,000), comes with a bottle of the brand’s 12 Year Old variant and a highball glass, and is packaged in a rich jade green theme. The 15 Year Old pack (IDR2.290.000) includes a nosing dram and is presented in a luxurious purple package, while the 18 Year Old pack (IDR3,390,000) has two nosing drams and is displayed in a oceanic blue case. In our opinion, the star of the show, though, is the Reserva Rum Cask 21 Year Old pack, which is finished in warm orange tones; this particular malt is most distinctive for the fact that it’s finished in Caribbean rum-soaked casks for four months, ultimately resulting in a flavor that’s simultaneously spicy and with sweet hints of vanilla and toffee.
