The cast and crew of Extraordinary Attorney Woo have touched down in Bali to celebrate the success of the K-drama series, but two names are notably absent: Kang Ki-young and Kang Tae-oh.
Centering around Woo Young-woo (played by Park Eun-bin), a young lawyer with Asperger’s syndrome who uses her wits to solve cases despite facing prejudice, Extraordinary Attorney Woo originally debuted on Korean network ENA before the show was picked up by Netflix in late June.
Following its release, the legal drama saw tremendous success, with high ratings and even topped Netlix’s weekly lists of globally most-watched TV and films.
Rumors of a “reward vacation” for the hardworking cast and crew, as well as to celebrate the show’s immense popularity, popped up in July. However, ENA shut down the rumors, saying that the conflicting schedules of the cast and crew made it “difficult to proceed with plans for a reward vacation.”
But it seems they eventually managed to find time for Bali. Last Wednesday, a representative of the show confirmed that “director Yoo In-sik, Park Eun-bin, Kang Ki-young, Joo Jong-hyuk, Ha Yoon-kyung, and more will be going on vacation to Bali on Aug. 8.” A clip of the crew arriving on the Island of Gods are making the rounds today.
Unfortunately, Kang Ki-young, who plays Jung Myeong-seok on the show, tested positive for COVID-19 on the day of the flight, and he was excluded from the trip to prioritize his health.
Cast member Kang Tae-oh, who plays the universally loved character Lee Jun-ho (Woo Young-woo’s love interest), also misses out on the vacation to enlist in the military.
His agency, Man of Creation, announced that he is set to begin his service between August and mid-September. “This happens to be right around the end of his ongoing drama ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ which ends on Aug. 18.”.
