Billed as Bali’s first and only hot air balloon experience of its kind, The Chedi Club’s new adventure elevates you 50 meters above ground to view Ubud’s green forests and rice fields from up high. Imagine floating among the fluffy clouds as you take in lush landscapes and the majestic Mount Agung in the backdrop. Neat, huh.

Even if you’re not a guest of the rustic Ubud hotel, the balloon ride service is still open to anyone who wants to sign-up (and of course, pay) for it.

Available till November, the 23m-high balloon ride lifts off three times daily and lasts about five to seven minutes each time — so don’t spend all of it looking at the sights through your phone/camera. Dawn and late afternoon flights (US$150/couple) include breakfast or afternoon tea, while evening trips (US$200/couple) are followed by dinner.

Before you rush off to make a reservation (which apparently you should, as slots are limited and the service is getting popular) — remember, safety precautions are paramount. Make sure you get all the rules down before climbing aboard.

To stay on a little longer at the resort, watch the sun drift down over the horizon as you tuck in to a garden barbecue under the stars, or plan a private five-course dinner for you and your partner to relax in solitude among the rice paddies.
