The pandemic is still very much here and it’s just good sense not to be traveling anytime soon, yet the global travel disruption doesn’t seem to have affected Bali’s popularity among travelers.
This week, one of the world’s largest travel platforms, Tripadvisor, placed Bali on top of its 2021 list of World’s Most Popular Destinations, with London and Dubai filling the second and third spots.
“Bali is like a living postcard, an Indonesian paradise that feels like a fantasy,” Tripadvisor wrote.
Bali has risen three spots up the list, after coming fourth just last year.
The awards are an insight into the places travelers ventured in 2020 when travel was still open, as well as the destinations they dreamed of going to as they stayed at home during the pandemic, according to the platform.
As talks of travel looking markedly different after the pandemic gained ground, Tripadvisor’s vice president for global media business, Christine Maguire, also noted how a recent survey showed that 74 percent of travelers “will spend more time selecting a destination when planning their next trip.”
“If you’re like me and already imagining your first post-vaccine vacation, this list of travelers’ favorite destinations can serve as your inspiration,” Maguire said.
Though of course, we hope Indonesia will have a much better handling of the pandemic by then.
