Rallying it up to celebrate Indonesia’s upcoming Independence Day on August 17, the Bali Classic Motor Show 2 will be exhibiting a couple of historically significant vehicles: two old cars once belonging to the country’s first president.
In honor of the country’s 72nd birthday, you can see President Soekarno’s cars on display from August 14 to 23 in the parking area of the Lotte Mart on Jl. By Pass Ngurah Rai.
Indonesia became an independent nation, breaking free from the Dutch on August 17, 1945, with “Bung Karno,” as he was affectionately referred to, leading the way.
“There will be two cars of Bung Karno on display, a 1947 Chrysler Windsor Limousine and a 1946 Dodge Limousine,” says BCMS 2 chairman, Gede Agus Mahendra Pendit.
The cars have been sent on loan to Bali from Surabaya for the event, which is put on by the Association of Antique Car Enthusiasts (PPMKI) Bali.
