KOR Pilates (stylized KÔR PILATES) was launched in February of this year in the heart of Canggu, as more and more people in the area show interest in this type of mind-body discipline that was developed by German physical trainer Joseph Pilates.
While KOR Pilates was not the first Pilates studio in the Bali (or Canggu, for that matter), it is fast becoming a standout due to the beautiful backdrop of rice fields and the numerous classes available, including mat Pilates, reformer Pilates, and fitness-centric sessions.
Coconuts Bali has visited the premises on two occasions thus far. And with nine reformer spots, every class felt like an exclusive session as each guest received more attention from the instructors.
Denis Christian, already a star in the Canggu fitness scene as a personal trainer and fitness instructor extraordinaire, announced the launching of KOR Pilates by House of Pilates in collaboration with Jakarta and Barcelona-based Pilates master Xavier Fabrega.
The studio is currently open from Monday to Saturday with various classes, including “bro-former” (because males also need booties!).
For decades, Pilates has been veiled by the misconception that it’s solely a workout routine favored by women. However, contrary to popular belief, this exercise methodology offers a plethora of fitness advantages for everyone, including men.
Joseph Pilates, who developed the exercise in the early 20th century, focused on a comprehensive fitness regimen that fosters strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness.
Beyond its core-centric exercises, Pilates also emphasizes flexibility, offering men the opportunity to enhance their range of motion, aiding in activities that require agility and swift movement.
