Someone once said that life is like a dick because sometimes it gets hard for no reason. Sometimes it’s up, sometimes it’s down. But it won’t stay hard forever. (Oh, so many phallic puns coming to us now).
A new patisserie, Mr & Mrs Dick, is a naughty-cum-nice new addition in Seminyak selling dick-shaped and pussy-shaped sweet waffles for you to munch on. While naughty desserts, such as penis-shaped chocolate, are not exactly a brand new idea (anyone watch the BBC sitcom Miranda?) – this sweets parlor has erected a discussion online.
A culinary Instagram account took notice of the patisserie and wrote a video review (naturally with an “18+” disclaimer in the beginning of the video). While commenting that for some, IDR40,000 (US$2.5) may be quite pricey for a waffle, she still encouraged people to try them out.
The comments online have been varied.
Some reprimanded the account for uploading the clip, which features a dick-shaped waffle, arguing that such imagery could morally corrupt kids with smartphones. Others seem to agree with one account commenting that the shop would have been banned if it was located outside of Bali, as Indonesia has a draconian anti-pornography law and one can see how people can easily categorize these waffles as pornographic, sadly.
Others seem to find the idea funny, with some jokingly lamenting that they don’t live in Bali and therefore need to wait until their next trip to try the waffles. One joked by warning customers to put the waffles in the right place.
The shop, which opened this month, already has quite the social media presence including on TikTok, as well as other platforms on top of their website.
We will definitely try this waffle shop soon and give our honest, no-dicking-around review.
