Sexy Spanish charm and rustic Ibizan fare at La Finca worth the trek to Batu Belig

COCONUTS HOT SPOT — Despite its relatively far-flung location on the northernmost end of Batu Belig, Ibizan/Spanish Mediterranean La Finca keeps luring us back with its rustic Spanish charm and intimate atmosphere.

An impressive bamboo dining hall and cozy shaded courtyard surrounded by rice fields makes for a relaxing, laid-back ambience.

Classic dishes such as Gambas Islas Baleares (truffle garlic prawns), Croquetas de Chorizo y Canela (chorizo and cinnamon croquettes), Albondigas con Salsa de Tomate y Queso Feta (beef meatballs with fresh tomato sauce and feta cheese), and Jamon Iberico de Bellota (Iberico ham from acorn-fed Iberian black pig) never disappoint.

And for vegetarians, their Setas Crujienties con Aioli Pimiento (crispy mushrooms with paprika Aioli), and Patatas Ibicencas (crispy potatoes, creamy cheesy sauce, paprika confit, and crushed chili) are so drool-worthy.

If you’re dining with a large group of friends, La Finca’s hearty share plates feature double-roasted pork belly and Basque-style paella—which are definite crowd pleasers. Don’t forget to check out their daily specials on the crowded chalkboard, there are always some seasonal yummies prepared by Bilbao-native Chef Arroyo to surprise your palate.

Spanish classic: Pulpo a la Gallego

No Iberian fare is complete without sangria, of course. The house sangria at La Finca follows authentic recipes and steers clear of the sugary varieties often found in other establishments nowadays. You can have your choice of either red, white, rose, or even sparkling wine sangria. Owner Thomas Mack claims that they don’t use any bottled juices, canned fruits or anything pre-prepared. Everything is pounded, muddled, squeezed, juiced, and shaken from fresh ingredients. Guess that’s what gives their sangria that extra zing!
