Did you know that sandwiches are called sando in Japan? Among the many sando you can find in the Land of the Rising Sun, western-influenced katsu sando is among the popular sandwiches. If that sounds intriguing to you, then the offerings from newcomer Sando Sando might just fulfill your curiosity.

Sando usually comes with soft white bread, setting it apart from the sandwiches we’re likely more familiar with, which usually use sourdough or whole wheat. Katsu sandwiches from Sando Sando uses toasted Japanese milk bread and fried panko-breaded cutlet, and the former is marketed as having a fairy floss texture, a tint of sweet taste-profile, and are freshly baked daily. They are then toasted in butter for a crispy texture, and paired with savory filling for that umami kick.

There are five different katsu sandwiches you can get from the recently launched establishment: Pork Katsu Sando (IDR94,000), Beef Katsu Sando (IDR83,000), Spicy Chicken Katsu Sando (IDR72,000), OG Chicken Katsu Sando (IDR70,000), and Mozzarella Katsu Sando (IDR83,000). They’ve also partnered with locally brewed Kura Kura beer, so you’ve got the option of enjoying your sando with a pale ale or a lager, too.

There are set packages available on Sando Sando’s menu, so be sure to check them out on their Instagram highlights.
