COCONUTS HOT SPOT — A steady stream of drool-worthy Instagram posts from local bloggers and all-around positive reviews on the net is what prompted us to try the new-ish Bukit Cafe on Jl. Labuan Sait that we always pass on the way to Pantai Padang Padang and Single Fin.

The cafe serves a variety of fare, but mainly Western. From good ‘ol Instagram and TripAdvisor, their most popular orders seem to be the burgers (you can also get a veggie one) and their fruit-filled breakfasts like the yogurt fruit parfait (stack of fruit, granola, and yogurt) and their colorful fruit salad, which seems to have whatever’s in season, from dragon fruit to mango to watermelon, and so on. Some of the other menu items that caught our attention was the quinoa salad with roasted veggies, the nasi merah with garlic prawns, and the nice-looking cakes on display.

Fresh from the beach and in the mood from something hearty, we opted for one of the cafe’s specials, the chicken schnitzel wrap. I was worried it wasn’t going to be enough to satiate my own rumbling stomach—but boy was I wrong. At 76k (before service charge and tax), the wrap is relatively expensive for the area, but when it was served up, we could see why. It’s literally like two portions that would you get at some other Bukit spots that we frequent (ahem, Pit Stop) and the fresh flour tortilla is stuffed solid with crispy chicken schnitzel, lettuce, and to our elation, actual thick-cut bacon. Nom.

The fries, however, that were served with the wrap were nothing to write home about and were unfortunately pretty soggy, but at least it came with ketchup and mustard (what a delicacy!), salt that’s not “Dolphin” brand, AND you get free water by the jug.
Overall, we’d say you can expect clean, aesthetic plating from this spot with kind of high prices, but hefty portions.
It’s definitely a pre and post beach hangout spot given its convenient location after the turn for Bingin and on the way to Padang Padang.

The space is very relaxing, with white walls, a high ceiling, flowing fans, and calming breeze that flows through its open windows and entrance. The patio’s also a nice spot to chillax since it’s set far enough back from the road that you don’t feel every bike that whizzes by you.
The service can’t be faulted—the servers and kitchen staff were so attentive and extremely friendly but not in an in-your-face sort of way.
