COCONUTS HOT SPOT—Life can be challenging for a vegetarian newbie. It’s not enough that you have to overcome your occasional cravings for a juicy slab of steak or crispy calamari. Vegetarians have to deal with the peer pressure (or simply your personal ambition to keep up with the crowd) as well. And at least in Bali nowadays, it’s not hip enough just to be organic, your food has to be raw too.
Luckily, there are places like Divine Earth in Kuta. Chilled out vibe, fresh ingredients, and flavorful beautifully presented dishes that will keep you saying “I can’t believe it’s raw!” (not out loud if you can help it though, remember you’re trying to fool people into thinking you’ve been eating raw since the day you were born).
Portobello steak with wakame pasta & cashew panna cotta
And for days that used to require a straight-out-of-the-carton ice cream binge, I now wisely opt for a Kama-Sutra smoothie. As sensational as it’s name suggests: cacao, vanilla, cacao butter, cashew milk, and cinnamon.
