Good Day Ubud is a secret corner where one can swim, work, spend time with the little ones and enjoy the sunset

I stumbled upon this hidden gem last week while visiting a friend in Ubud. My friend told me that it was a pool bar so I thought it would be a decent place to hang out, sip some wine, and maybe take a quick dip.

I was not wrong. But wow, Good Day Ubud is more than that.

Surrounded by paddy fields near Jalan Raya Sayan, access to the pool bar slash restaurant slash spa slash coworking space slash kid’s playground (sorry for the long description, but it’s only apt) is quite limited.

One literally needs to ride on their motorbike to get to Good Day, as the path to the bar is too narrow for cars. If you drive a car or take a cab, then you will need to park or ask your driver to drop you off at their designated parking spot, which is a 5 to 10-minute ride from the venue.

But don’t worry! This cute little vehicle will take you and your loved ones to Good Day.

I was in awe the moment I arrived. Without exaggeration, the venue does look like an oasis. Perhaps because it is situated in the middle of paddy fields, and so it sticks out in a good way.

Here and there I saw parents and nannies hanging out with their kids. In addition to a shallow swimming pool, Good Day also has a children’s playground. Elsewhere, several adults had their laptops open at the co-working space and looked laser-focused at work.

Their dishes – mostly Western food – range from IDR50,000 (US$3.28) to IDR120,000 (US$7,88). Non-alcoholic beverages range from IDR35,000 (US$2.3) to IDR60,000 (US$3.94), while alcoholic beverages range from IDR90,000 (US$5.91) to IDR120,000.

Imagine having this view in Ubud while sipping wine or when you need inspiration to finish that article (ahem).

And, as you are still in Bali after all, sunset from Good Day is just breathtaking.

And in the evening, the venue gets lit (literally).

The downside of Good Day is the limited access. It just so happened that evening, my friend and I did not drive so we hailed a rideshare to head back. After the shuttle dropped us off at the main road, it took almost an hour for our ride to come as there was a religious ceremony blocking access to where we were at the time. Just our luck, we suppose.

All in all, Good Day ain’t joking around when they branded themselves as a hidden gem in Ubud. For you lovebirds, consider their Valentine’s Day package because Feb. 14 is just around the corner.
