Love them or loathe them, Australian chain restaurant Karen’s Diner, notorious for wittingly giving customers the utmost unpleasant dining experience with their rude staff, is coming to Bali next month.
Known for its “great burgers & rude service,” Karen’s Diner opened late last year in Jakarta in partnership with local chain Bengkel Burger. The opening of the diner was met with mixed reviews.
Some folks find their schtick to be distasteful, but others seem to understand the humor and play along.

An Instagram account with the handle @karensdinerbali was launched recently. Their first post, uploaded on Jan. 18, features testimony from local foul-mouthed TikTok personality Jimmy Fucken Hendrix.
According to their Instagram bio, Karen’s Diner is opening in March 2023 in Petitenget, Seminyak. The restaurant is also currently hiring staff.
It will be interesting to see how Karen’s Diner blends in Bali’s food and beverage scene, which is known for its warm hospitality. But based on some of the comments we get on Facebook and Instagram, it seems some of our readers will fit in there immediately.
