Extreme Menu Item: Behold, the 30 centimeter burger of Legian

COCONUTS HOT SPOT — Call it fusion confusion. Spaghetti with Indonesian style tuna broth, Babi guling with caesar salad, all kinds of fusion sushi rolls—Fat Bowl has ‘em all.

Even though in our book Fat Bowl is one of the few places that somehow manages to pull off every quirky combination on their menu, it’s their huge 30 centimeter burger that we’re raving about here.

Yes, you got that right—it’s a whopping 30 centimeters in diameter. Fat Bowl even boasts that it’s the largest burger in Indonesia. It’s fully packed with a one kilogram beef patty, four eggs, a smothering of cheese, bacon strips, pineapple slices, pickles, onions, tomatoes, and all the glorious greens the chef can fit into it.

This burger is definitely not for the faint hearted.

The menu says it feeds up to four people, but even six guys had trouble finishing it, according to one of the waitresses.

Even if you can’t finish the massive burger, just attempting to devour it is an experience by itself. First will come the stares and wolf-whistles from your fellow diners when the waitress brings out this pizza-sized burger to your table. Next of course, random strangers will walk past your table and ask to take a selfie with your burger (trust us, we know from experience).

Then finally, it’s the main event, the part where you somehow make a spectacle of yourself complete with a crowd of people you barely know, cheering you and your crew on to finish the humongous thing.

And even when eventually you have to admit defeat (because chances are you will), at least you’ve won your 15 minutes of fame along the way (and a possible stomach ulcer). Definitely worth the trip down to dizzy Legian for this extreme menu item (which is more a once in a lifetime experience than a weekly indulgence, but hey, to each his own).
