Da Maria, a prominent Italian dining venue in Bali, has introduced a new monthly event starting on Nov. 7.

Adorned with décor inspired by the idyllic island of Capri, the restaurant’s menu pays homage to Italy’s culinary treasures.

Executive Chef Lorenzo DePetris, overseeing Da Maria as well as Canggu’s Luigi’s and Berawa’s Mosto for two years, said that he drew from his experience at Restaurant Duomo in Sicily, a two Michelin-starred establishment, in bringing a unique approach to Italian cooking.

This background has influenced his passion for regional Italian dishes and laid the groundwork for the upcoming dinner series.

The monthly dinners are designed to whisk diners away on a gastronomic voyage through some of his cherished Italian regions. These exclusive dinners will showcase signature dishes from six distinct Italian regions, each holding a personal significance for Chef DePetris.

The culinary journey commences with Sicily and culminates with Sardinia, bookending a voyage through regions that gifted us culinary classics such as carbonara and cacio e pepe, while introducing less familiar regional delicacies to these special menus.

Scheduled from November to April 2024, the series will feature set menus designed for parties of two or more. The schedule is as follows:

Nov. 7: Sicily

Dec. 12: Piedmont

Jan. 16: Liguria

Feb. 6: Marche

March 5: Lazio

April 9: Sardinia

The menu includes a welcome aperitivo and a selection of wines from the highlighted regions.

Reservations will be available in advance of each dinner, inviting guests to embark on a culinary journey through Italy’s diverse gastronomic landscape.
