1. SEMINYAK: Stuff yourself silly at Seminyak Village Wine & Food Festival
Seminyak’s latest posh shopping center will be bursting at the seams with food and drink this long weekend. They had as at ‘wine’ (come on, you know wine runs super steep in Bali), but they’re hooking us in with all the good food that’s promised. It’s a free event and the following big Bali restaurant names will be there: Café Darling, Mrs. Lee Family Recipe, Tiger Palm Bali, Wahrung Bali, Nitrogenie Indonesia, The Duck King Group and Bali’s homegrown artisan labels such as The Breakfast Bali, Paletas Wey, Awani Bali, REMIX Cold Pressed Juice Bali, Poule de Luxe. To name a few. There’s apparently a lot more.
When: Friday-Sunday, May 6-8, 10am-10pm
Where: Seminyak Village, Jl. Kayu Jati
2. SEMINYAK: Lose yourself in the good food and cool music at Tiger Palm
Ok, so we already listed the Seminyak Village Wine & Food Festival, but the “Street Vibes” set up at Tiger Palm deserves its own mention! Tiger Palm is the latest of Bali restaurant mogul Will Meyrick’s amazing food empire that includes the excellence of Sarong, Mama San, and Hujan Locale over in Ubud. Tiger Palm draws inspiration from the flavor-packed food of Malaysia. In addition to sampling this world-class Malaysian food, there’s also supposed to be “loads of cocktails,” which is certainly enough to get us through the door.
Oh and the line-up’s got us super excited: Athron (Bali acoustic solo performer), Aray Daulay (Indo reggae fans will know him from Steven & the Coconut Treez), Dadang Navicula (from Bali’s own grunge band Navicula), and Dee Dice (cool Jakarta folk, r&b, soul, free form band).
When: Friday-Saturday, May 6-7, 5-7pm
Where: Tiger Palm, Seminyak Village, Jl. Kayu Jati
3. CANGGU: Party at Pretty Poison
Pretty Poison’s basically already the “coolest” place to be with its California-style pool “to shred,” badass skate jams and grungy vibe. Whether you frequent this joint all the time or if you haven’t been around yet, Saturday’s the evening to go as there will be free flow and bbq for Strikes’ “The past the future and the present of life” album release launch party. There will be an after party as well folks.
When: Saturday, May 7, free bbq + drinks start by 5 pm to 6pm
Where: Pretty Poison, Canggu shortcut

4. SEMINYAK: Get fancy at Métis
If you’re looking for a more high-brow vibe, then the second anniversary party of Seminyak’s swanky French Métis restaurant is more for you. The lounge and its gorgeous garden along with Moët et Chandon champagne and Belvedere vodka are beckoning. Not to mention a burlesque performance and a main act by DJ Lyrics. Just take note, this event isn’t cheap (or maybe it is for those you visiting Bali!) with different alcohol packages running from Rp 4.35 million (4-6 people) all the way to Rp 12.5 million (10 people or more). Booking a table in advance in recommended.
When: Saturday, May 7, 10pm onwards (opening set 6-10pm)
Where: Jl. Petitenget no. 6, Seminyak
For table bookings please contact 0361 4737 888 or lounge@metisbali.com
5. KUTA: Enjoy some British cinema at “Europe on Screen” Film Festival
It’s called the “Europe on Screen” Film Festival, but it’s really all about the Brits! Bali Dynasty Resort in Kuta and the NGO Solemen are showcasing a British film for free, along with offering British-themed food and setting up the decor British-themed as well. The night is obviously to, you guessed it, celebrate British culture, but most importantly is about raising awareness and funds for Soleman, which is dedicated to helping the disadvantaged in Bali.
The impressive Bali Dynasty Resort

6. JIMBARAN: Enjoy an evening of fashion and music at Le Meridien
This seems to be a weekend of anniversaries, one of which includes Le Meridien’s “threemendous” birthday, down in Jimbaran. The gorgeous Bali resort will be celebrating its third anniversary with a fashion-able party. There will be a fashion show by Uluwatu Handmade Balinese Lace (that beautiful boutique with all the stunning white items) and AIR Resort & Swimwear. Mermaids from mermaid.inc will also be there, while you’ll get a nice soundtrack with a strings performance by Bali Classical Lounge, along with DJ Shissy Bvlgary, and a dance performance by Eka and Dwi (grand finalists of Indonesia Mencari Bakat). But there’s also a Zumba warm-up, other games and activities, and a contest with awards for best-dressed, biggest team, and biggest fundraiser.
