5 fun things to do in Bali this weekend (April 29-May 1)

1. CANGGU: Hunt for treasures at Old Man’s Market

Making its first appearance of the year, Old Man’s legendary Saturday market is back. Everyone in Canggu seems to have something to sell from art to homeware to jewelry to boutique clothing to local produce and beyond. So, sweat it out this Saturday and shop. You’re going to want to hit the ATM before this, trust us.

2. SEMINYAK: Party at Lacalaca to celebrate hangover IV therapy launch

Believe it or not, hooking up to IV treatment, following a night of heavy partying is a very real thing in the Bali weekend warrior scene. And it’s not just for hangovers: IV therapy is also apparently trending as treatment for food poisoning, flu, and fatigue. Entering the island’s IV therapy business is The Dose Bali and they’re going big to celebrate their launch on Saturday at Mexican joint Lacalaca. Even if you’ve got an aversion to needles, at least you can go for free food and drinks, as well as DJ’d dance time. Attendees get discount vouchers for Bali’s first mobile IV therapy service—don’t sweat it, treatment is administered by national licensed nurses.

3. NUSA DUA: Yak Golf Invitational

Get your swing on this weekend at the second-ever Yak Golf Invitation. It’s set at the pristine Bali National Golf Resort this year, so grab your clubs (or rent some) and tee off for 18 holes (or 36 for practice day). A name worth dropping over the weekend is Miss Indonesia 2012, Inesh Putri, who is now playing on the Bali Golf Team. And since the event’s put on by the Yak Magazine, expect a hell of a lot more to it than just golf. The event party should include goodies from their sponsors Glenmorangie and Albens Cider. Golfing isn’t cheap though—it’s Rp 1.5 million per person PER day, but that includes green fees for 18 holes, caddy fee, and golf cart, as well as the awards ceremony, buffet dinner, and complimentary alcohol.

4. ISLAND WIDE: Treat yourself to some tapas!

Tapas probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of food in Bali, but thanks to the island’s ever-expanding food offerings, there are some awesome places to go out for tapas. Jimbaran, Bukit, Ubud, Seminyak, and Sanur all have amazing restaurants worth checking out if you’re in the mood for sharing plates. Because why just eat one entree when you can eat a little of three, or ten?!

Here are our tapas-serving restaurant recs for Bali.

5. LEGIAN: Sleaze it up with pool time at Playboy casting

This event’s certainly not for everyone, but we expect there are certain folks out there that this appeals WILDLY to. Playboy will hold a sunset session casting party at Double Six’s Cocoon Beach Club. Official Playboy Model Georgie Gee will select her favorite casting model—from a pool of girls who will be live body-painted. Gee herself wild do a swimwear shoot in the main pool area.
