5 fun things to do in Bali this weekend (April 22-24)

1. TANJUNG BENOA: Family fun time in honor of Kartini

To celebrate Indonesian heroine and feminist Raden Adjeng Kartini, get out with the whole family and jet over to Tanjung Benoa. Some of the things on the agenda for this free community event include live music and dance, a garage sale, kids games, a fashion show, and a food and fashion bazaar. All proceeds are going to Yayasan Rama Sesana (YRS), a reproductive health and education center supporting low-income women of Bali’s traditional market communities. They need your help more than ever now after YRS’ base clinic was destroyed in the Pasar Badung fire back in February.

When: Saturday, April 23, 10am-5pm
Where: Taman Bhagawan, Jl. Pratama no. 70

2. JEMBRANA: Get out of South Bali and head west

Take a weekend excursion to escape the South Bali crowds and see the island like you’ve never seen it before. Hubud and Five Pillar Foundation have teamed up to offer a weekend excursion to explore “Bali’s best kept secret,” Jembrana, West Bali. The itinerary’s certainly pretty packed and includes the beautiful rice terraces of Soka Valley, the turtle conservation center in Perancak, the stunning Gumbrih coastline where the jungle meets the ocean, also experiencing traditional and cultural life in Mendoyo. You’re going to need another weekend to recover from your weekend! Welp, that’s what Sunday’s for!

Where: Meeting point is at Hubud, Jl. Monkey Forest Road

3. SANUR: Sunday Market

If you’re looking for a chill Sunday experience but still want to be social and maybe do some shopping, then the afternoon in Sanur is just what you need. A part of a regular monthly market on the last Sunday of each month, local vendors, artists and charities have market stalls selling fashion, accessories, recycled products, homeware, and crafts. There’s also live blues music from 3-5pm, a bouncy castle for the kids, and yoga. And as if all that weren’t enough to draw you in, market-goers can use the Sahadewa swimming pool and Mercure Resort Kids Club facilities for just Rp50k per family.

When: Sunday, April 24
Where: Mercure Resort, Jl. Mertasari
