5 fun things to do in Bali this weekend (April 1-3)

1. SEMINYAK: Get it on, Burning Man style, at Sea Circus’ 6th B-day party

Take the desert to the beach and celebrate April Fools Day as well as the sixth anniversary of the colorful Seminyak institution, Sea Circus by dressing up crazy, Burning Man Style. While they said they won’t be burning up any effigies, the party is seriously all about “embracing our radical self-expression through phenomenal costumes, decorations, and performances.” Free food and drinks from 8-9pm are also a nice draw. There’s going to be a DJ so you can bust those moves, just as crazily you would for the real Burning Man.

When: Friday, April 1
Where: Sea Circus Bali
Jl. Kayu Aya No. 22, Seminyak

2. KEROBOKAN: Wine-o’s come indulge at Winehouse Gourmet Market

Stuff your face with all the goodies on offer at Winehouse’s Gourmet Market on Saturday. Lots to choose from, such as organic fruits and veggies, coconut products, artisan bread, local cheeses (our personal fave!), coffee, and of course, wine—which is not always easy to come by in Bali given such limited or marked up options here!

When: Saturday, April 2
Where: Jl. Raya Kerobokan (opp. Warisan // valet parking available)

3. UBUD: Feel the vinyasa rush as you lose yourself amongst all the hippies in town for BSF

Ubud’s known to be a magnet for the more free-flowing free-spirited types but from March 29 to April 3, the Bali jungle town is just filled to the brim with yogis for the annual Bali Spirit Festival. We admit that we ourselves love some yoga but even feel a bit overwhelmed by the dreadlocked crowds at the moment. But sometimes, if you can’t beat them, join them. Even though the festival has already kicked off, different pass options appear to still be available and you can always just opt for the evening world music events.

When: Tuesday-Sunday, March 29-April 3
Where: Ubud

4. KEROBOKAN: Join the ‘Sisterhood’ at Creamy Comfort for heavenly bites

Desserts to die for are what we think of when we think of Creamy Comfort, the whimsical dessert cafe up in Kerobokan. Located at wedding photography shop Axioo Bali, the adorable space makes a mean Black Russian, tiramisu, and peanut butter oreo cheesecake, to name a few. Apparently a ladies-only event, this “Sisterhood” gathering seems like the perfect chance for women in Bali to branch out, socialize, and of course enjoy some good old scrumptious sweets.

5. AROUND THE ISLAND: Sample some creepy crawlies

If dainty dessert parlors are not your style and you’re more of the Fear Factor persuasion, then why not take this weekend to to sample one of the many ‘bizarre’ or alternative, delicacies available in Bali. Choose your own adventure and pick from deep-friend dragonflies, sago worms, bats, or warm cobra blood (the last one is apparently an aphrodisiac). Ask around enough and you’re likely to find what you desire!
